Grindwell: Waiting in the wings

Engineering major Grindwell Norton has declared staid results in its third quarter ended December 2000. Its turnover was up 9.4% YoY, and its bottomline improved by 9% during the period. The improvement was largely contributed by a cut in interest costs.

Other income spurs engineering bottomline

The quarter ended June 30, 2000 is a mixed dose for engineering companies. The collated quarterly performance of some of India's top engineering companies has shown an encouraging jump of 112% in net profits (compared to the corresponding quarter in June, 1999). But the turnover during the quarter logged in a minor decline.

Sandvik improves y-o-y, disappoints q-o-q

Sandvik Asia is one of India's leading manufacturer of tungsten carbide products. The company has declared impressive results in its second quarter ended June 30, 2000. Its net profit has shot up by 187% to Rs 28 m during the quarter compared to 2QFY99. Its topline has also improved by 27% to Rs 501 m.

Blue Star posts 50% jump in net

Otis: Lifting off into a global fold

As part of the restructuring exercise, the Mahindra Group is selling its 23.89% stake in Otis Elevator Company (India) to Otis Elevator, USA. After the transfer, Otis Elevator, USA, will own 69% of Indian company, thus making it a subsidiary.
