The stock price of Zen Technologies Ltd captured investors' attention today.

The stock was up nearly 10% intraday due to strong sentiment among traders.

In this editorial, we will explore the reason for the rise and look at the company behind the stock.

Major Defence Order

The stock price of Zen Technologies jumped today, 16 January 2026. It was up nearly 10% intraday and at the time of writing, it was up 7.5%.

The big reason for the same was the significant defence order the company has received.

The company, via a filing to the stock exchanges, announced that it had received orders worth Rs 404 crores (Rs 4.04 bn) from the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.

The orders comprise a Rs 3.32 bn order for supply of anti-drone systems/ counter unmanned aerial systems (CUAS) and a Rs 0.72 bn order for training simulators and equipment.

The orders are expected to be completed within one year.

What next for Zen Technologies?

The company will soon announce the date of release of its quarterly results for Q3 FY26. In the last quarter, the company's revenues had fallen.

However, the fundamentals of the company are strong as are its growth prospects. As of 30 September 2025, it had an order book of Rs 6,750 m.

The company had bagged a Rs 370 m order from the Ministry of Defence last year to supply indigenous anti-drone systems with hard-kill capabilities.

This is in addition to the recently received order.

Despite facing short-term challenges, the management is confident about the future. The company is focusing on R&D to strengthen its technological capabilities and broaden its product range.

A big part of the company's plans include acquisitions. The most notable one is ARI, a leader in marine simulation. Zen Technologies plans to combine its own weapon simulation capabilities with ARI's marine tech to create world-class naval simulators.

Zen Technologies is also setting up a new manufacturing facility in Goa. The management has plans to start production in the US to serve allied markets and meet country-specific sourcing rules.
