Surana Telecom profits up 328%.
Suarana Telecom Ltd has reported a turnover of Rs 690 m and net profits of Rs. 51 m for the year ended 31st March 2000, representing an increase of 126% and 328% over the previous years figures of Rs 304 m and Rs 12 m respectively.
Surana Telecom is a part of the Rs 2200 m Surana group and is engaged in the production of consumer telecom sets, EPABX and other telecommunications.Out of the four divisions of the company, the jelly filled cables division contributed RS 485 m, fibre optics cable Rs 87 m,cable jointing kits and accessories Rs 89 m and optical fibre cable test and measuring equipments Rs 27 m.The company has given a proposal to IDBI to take over Arihant Optics Ltd, which produces optical fibre which is the main raw material for the company.This backward reuction measuren shall result in significant reduction in costs for the company which will boost bottomlines.
The future is extremely bright for the company in view of the fact that the telecom sector is the fastest growing sector in the country and the fact opportunities in telecom are increasing because of convergence.
