The Indian stocks were trading lower on 13 May 2025, following a strong rally on 12 May.
The NSE Nifty50 index was trading down about 0.78% near 24,730, and the BSE Sensex was down approximately 0.88% around 81,700 points.
Today's decline comes after the NSE Nifty 50 surged by a record 917 points (3.8%) on Monday, driven by positive developments such as the India-Pakistan ceasefire and progress in the US-China trade deal.
Investors were cautious ahead of key inflation data releases from India and the US, which could influence market direction in the near term.
Despite the markets falling today, the one stock that is rallying sharply in trade is the stock of JM Financial.

JM Financial reported results that suggested an improved performance, particularly in the investing banking business.
The company reported a net profit of Rs 2.1 billion (bn) for the quarter ending March 2025, that declined year-on-year.
However, it may not be appropriate to do a year-on-year comparison due to restructuring at the company.
JM Financial had earlier announced a refocus of its expertise in some of the wholesale credit businesses by pivoting from an on-balance sheet business model to originating and syndicating transactions to investors.
Accordingly, the loan book across wholesale real estate, financial institutions and MSME has run down from Rs 75.3 bn as of 31 March 2024 to Rs. 35.7 bn as of 31 March 2025.
In light of the above run down of the loan book from a strategic perspective, the overall financial and operating metrics would differ from the quarter of the previous year.
That aside, what impressed the markets were the performance from investing banking and platform AWS, which largely comprises asset management, wealth management and securities business.
Retail and Elite Wealth Assets Under Management (AUM) increased by 8% YoY and 36% YoY respectively to Rs 311.9 bn and Rs 25.8 bn respectively.
The mutual fund business also showed a solid growth. The closing AUM of the mutual fund business doubled to Rs 134.19 bn as of March 2025 (Rs 61.9 bn as of March, 2024).
JM Financial's pipeline of capital market and M&A transactions continues to remain strong. The company also continues to build and scale its wealth and asset management businesses.
JM Financial has also increased its shareholding in JM Financial Credit Solutions to 97% from 47%. The focus for the company will remain on the integrated private markets business.
This comprises of private credit (corporate, bespoke and real estate) with a key focus on syndication, and private investments (PE growth, REITs etc.).
On the lending business, the affordable home loans business at JM Financial has expanded its reach through 128 branches and continues to demonstrate strong growth.
JM Financial's future prospects are supported by its diversified business model, strategic investments in technology and asset management, and growth ambitions in mortgage lending and distressed assets.
The development of its integrated FinTech platform and co-investment strategies could be key growth levers going forward.
Overall, JM Financial is positioned for steady growth with an emphasis on digital innovation and strategic asset deployment, but investors should monitor regulatory developments and profitability trends closely.
Over the last one month, the share price of JM Financial has gained from levels of Rs 97.5 to the current levels of Rs 110. In past one year, shares of the company have gained almost 40%.
The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 162.85 on 21 October 2024. The stock also hit a 52-week low of Rs 69 on 4 June 2024.
