With Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari signing regulations that greenlight E100 fuel for vehicles in India.
Thus, a legal framework for flex-fuel vehicles designed to run on high ethanol blends has now been established. This move is expected to give a major boost to the country's ethanol economy.
Coming just weeks after E85 fuel was introduced in Delhi, the move signals the government's intent to push ethanol well beyond the current E20 programme, opening the door for ethanol to compete as a primary fuel alongside electric, CNG, and hybrid alternatives.
Here are 4 top names to add to your watchlist.
The companies here have been selected based on their exposure to the ethanol value chain, positive 3-year sales and profit growth, strong financial health and debt to equity ratio below 1.
The company is leveraging its ethanol and Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) production capabilities to capitalise on India's increasing focus on cleaner fuels and energy security. It manufactures ethanol using multiple feedstocks, including B-heavy molasses, C-heavy molasses, syrup, and grains.
EID Parry's ethanol sales stood at 941 lakh litres in FY26, compared to 1,015 lakh litres in FY25.
The decline was due to lower ethanol production from B-heavy molasses and syrup, which fell from 412 lakh litres and 234 lakh litres in FY25 to 342 lakh litres and 117 lakh litres in FY26, respectively.
However, this was partly offset by a rise in grain-based ethanol sales, which increased from 258 lakh litres to 342 lakh litres during the same period.
Overall, despite the decline in ethanol volumes, the company improved its blended realization from Rs 65.41 per litre in FY25 to Rs 66.8 per litre in FY26.
Its revenue has grown at a CAGR of 10.4% and profit has seen growth of 4% in the past three years.

Conclusion
With India moving towards higher ethanol blending targets and the introduction of E100 fuel regulations, the ethanol industry is set to witness strong long-term growth.
Companies with large distillery capacities, diversified feedstock capabilities, and advanced ethanol technologies are well-positioned in this transition.
However, investors should look beyond just ethanol capacity and focus on factors such as financial performance, expansion plans, technology leadership, and execution capabilities before making an investment decision.
Investors should evaluate the company's fundamentals, corporate governance, and valuations of the stock as key factors when conducting due diligence before making investment decisions.
