British Airways woo public with discount offer
Planning a trip abroad. If not, start planning now, for it will certainly not empty your bank account. In order to tap the potential tourist segment in the country, most private airlines are designing innovative packages to suit every pocket. If thatís not all, some of them are also offering discounts to attract a section of the population looking for `free lunches' in life.
To woo potential tourists to the city of Earls and Marquis-`London', British Airways has launched a scheme, under which it is currently offering 50% discount on a return ticket to London. Earlier the airline was offering 40% discount on a return trip to London.
As per the scheme, those wanting a 50% discount, will have to mail the airline's Delhi office original coupon published in today's Economic Times (a business daily) along with all the previous coupons that have appeared in the Economic Times till date.
When contacted by personalfn.com, the airline officials reiterated that depending on the airline's discretion, the discount would be offered to applicants. "The discount will vary from 10% to 50%," officials averred. Limited numbers of seats are available on a first-come-first-serve basis from each gateway and for each discount level.
However, under the scheme, discount is available only on economy class tickets. Currently the economy class return ticket to London is to the tune of Rs 87,815, club class is pegged at Rs 1,16,000 and first class is pegged at Rs 1,79,000.
Under the scheme, an applicant can send only one application under the offer. An applicant will be eligible for the discount specified in the coupon completed. "The original coupon should be completed and accompanied by the originals of the preceding coupon. Selected applicants will receive a discount voucher from British Airways that can be redeemed at any IATA travel agency or the airline's office across India against purchase of return tickets," officials said.
As per the scheme, vouchers are not an entitlement to travel but to a discount, subject to availability of seats. However vouchers can be redeemed only against purchase of return tickets after issue of a voucher and not against ticket already purchased. Cash redemption of voucher is not permissible. So pack your bags and get ready to fly the British Airways way.
