India's power sector is focusing on renewable energy and infrastructure expansion to meet rising electricity demands.

India has transformed from power-deficit country to one with a surplus by creating a unified national grid, strengthening distribution, and ensuring electricity for all households.

However, one stock that is surging in this sector is Reliance Power.

Reliance Power is a major player in India, developing and operating power projects using both traditional and renewable energy sources.

Reliance Power share price surged 15% just three days, drawing strong investor interest.

So, what's behind this rally?

Let's take a closer look...

Green Energy Partnership

Shares of Reliance Power jumped 15% in just three days due to significant development in the company's renewable energy projects.

Reliance Power announced that its associate company Reliance Enterprise has formed a joint venture named GDL Reliance Solar in Bhutan to develop renewable energy projects.

The joint venture between Green Digital Private Ltd, a state-owned Bhutan enterprise, and Reliance Enterprises was incorporated on 24 July 2025, under Gelephu Mindfulness, a special administrative region in Bhutan, with a 50:50 partnership.

The new joint venture, GRSPL, operates in renewable and green energy. Reliance Enterprise has invested in 50% of the shareholding by subscribing to 225,000 giving Reliance Power an indirect 25% stake in the company.

This expansion boosted the company's presence in regional renewable energy, sparking optimism that drove the stock to consecutive upper circuits.

This could be the main reason for the share price to rise.

What Next?

Moving forward, Reliance Power plans to invest over Rs 100 bn in a solar power project manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh.

Reliance Power's subsidiary, Reliance NU Suntech, will develop a 930 MW solar plant with an 1,860 MWh battery storage system in Kurnool.

The company plans to upgrade its thermal plants for better efficiency and reduced emissions, meeting environmental regulations.

Reliance Power is looking to enter the green hydrogen sector, with its experience in power generation and distribution. It also plans to invest in smart grid technologies and energy storage solutions.
