It appears, they are prioritizing healthy food and regular exercise, while also taking note of their mental health and stress.

Healthcare is an essential aspect of human life, and its availability and affordability significantly impacts a society's well-being.

The Healthcare Industry in India

The healthcare industry encompasses hospitals, medical devices, medical equipment, clinical trials, telemedicine, outsourcing, medical tourism, health insurance, and more.

The Indian healthcare market, which was valued at US$ 110 billion (bn) in 2016 is now projected to reach US$ 638 bn by 2025.

The healthcare sector, as of 2024, is one of India's largest employers, employing a total of 7.5 million (m) people.

Government to the Rescue

With the rising incidence of lifestyle diseases and the escalating costs of healthcare, there is a growing demand for accessible and affordable medical services. Moreover, it's the increasing penetration of health insurance and Government aid that is pushing the growth of the healthcare market.

India's Union Budget 2024-25 emphasised transforming the healthcare sector through increased digital infrastructure and revised health expenditure of US$ 10.7 bn.

The Indian government is planning to introduce a credit incentive programme worth US$ 6.8 billion to boost the country's healthcare infrastructure.

Besides, strategic Government-led initiatives like the National Health Policy, the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, have played a pivotal role in shaping the healthcare landscape.
