According to the media reports, shares of Aluminium producers such as NALCO and other companies witnessed selling pressure on 16 June 2026, pulling the Nifty Metal index down 2%.
The main reason behind the fall is a sharp drop in global aluminium prices. Investors are turning cautious on aluminium stocks after the US-Iran peace deal agreement raised hopes of smoother trade through the Strait of Hormuz. Since the region accounts for nearly 9% of global aluminium supply, higher exports could boost supply in the market and put pressure on aluminium prices.
