The major Asian stock markets have opened the session on a positive note with markets in Hong Kong (up 1.15%) and Japan (up 0.5%) leading the gains. While US and European stock markets closed their session on a negative note yesterday. The rupee is trading at 63.77 per US dollar.
Indian markets today have opened the day on a flat note. BSE-Sensex is trading down by 17 points (down 0.06%) and NSE-Nifty is trading marginally up by 2 points (up 0.03%). S&P BSE Midcap and S&P BSE Smallcap index indices are trading in the green, up by 0.5% and 0.4% respectively. Sectoral indices are trading on a mixed note with power and auto leading the losses.
Telecom stocks have opened the day in green. According to a leading financial daily, Idea Cellular, one of the biggest cellular carrier of the country, has added nearly 20 lakh users in Madhya Pradesh (MP) circle in FY15. This records the company's highest YoY (year-on year) growth of nearly 4% points in Revenue Market Share (RMS) which stood at 36.9% in the fourth quarter of FY15. Apart from MP circle, the company has also achieved similar milestone in neighboring Maharashtra and Goa circle. For May, 2015, the company has added 12.59 lakh new mobile subscribers after which the company's market share stood at 22.40%. Stock of Idea cellular has opened the day in green, up by 1.3%.
Stocks in the engineering sector have opened the day on a mixed note. As per the financial daily, Crompton Greaves (CG), one of the world's leading engineering corporations, has bagged two important orders to set power stations overseas. Among these, one is for 8 bays of 138 kV, 60 Hz, AIS Switchyard in the Philippines for Minergy Coal Corporation while the other is for 30 MVA, 132 kV mobile substations for Wellington Turbines, a Venezuelan enterprise. The scope of work for both projects includes design, manufacture, supply, construction and installation & commissioning of the substations. As reported, these orders were secured by company through a highly competitive international bidding process. Stock of Crompton Greaves has opened the day on a positive note.
