Indian benchmark indices traded positive throughout the session and ultimately closed green.

Indian equity benchmarks indices, Sensex and Nifty50 ended higher as PSU Bank and financial services shares supported.

At the closing bell on Wednesday, the BSE Sensex  closed points 130 higher (up 0.1%)

Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 26 points higher (up 0.1%)

Eternal, SBI, Bajaj Finance were the top gainers today.

Tata Steel, Infosys, NTPC on the other hand, were among the top losers today.

The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 0.5% higher and the BSE 250 SmallCap index is trading 0.7% higher.

Sectoral indices were trading mixed on Wednesday with auto sector and oil & gas sector witnessed buying. Meanwhile, stocks in metal sector and realty sector witnessed selling pressure.

Speaking of stock markets, Tanushree Banerjee, Research Analyst at Equitymaster, highlights that tollbooth monopoly stocks are facing rising regulatory risks that could weaken their strong moats.

She notes that changes like market coupling are challenging platforms such as IEX. The main risk is not earnings, but valuation de-rating due to reduced pricing power.

ICICI Prudential Life Insurance share price will be in focus today.

Shares of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company came into focus after the company reported its Q1 business update.

ICICI Prudential Life Insurance reported a 28% year-on-year increase in profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 3.86 billion for the quarter.

Groww share price will be in focus today.

Shares of Billionbrains Garage Ventures Ltd, the parent company of investment platform Groww, came into focus after the company reported its Q1 FY27 results.

The company reported a 94.3% year-on-year increase in profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 7.35 billion in the first quarter, compared with Rs 3.78 billion in the same period last year.

Kirloskar Brothers Secures Overseas Supply Contract

Kirloskar Brothers has secured an international order worth GBP 11.67 million (around Rs 1.50 billion) from Saipem Offshore Construction SPA.

The order involves the supply of vertical pumps along with spare parts and is scheduled to be executed within 52 to 60 weeks from the date of receiving the order.

As part of the contract terms, Kirloskar Brothers is required to provide a performance bond equal to 10% of the contract value and a warranty bond equal to 5% of the contract value.

PDS Partners Busana to Expand Manufacturing

PDS Limited has entered into a strategic partnership with Busana Apparel Group, one of Indonesia's leading apparel manufacturers, to strengthen its global manufacturing network.

The partnership comes at a time when global fashion brands are diversifying their supply chains due to changing trade policies and the growing "China Plus One" strategy. By joining forces, both companies aim to offer customers a larger and more flexible manufacturing platform across multiple countries.

The collaboration will combine PDS' expertise in design, sourcing, and brand management with Busana's large-scale manufacturing capabilities. Together, they plan to serve global fashion brands with faster production, a more diversified manufacturing base, stronger supply chain resilience, and greater operational efficiency.

Why Ather Energy Shares Were in Focus?

Ather Energy's share price rose more than 9% on Wednesday after Hero MotoCorp announced plans to invest up to Rs 10 billion (bn) in the electric two-wheeler maker.

Hero MotoCorp's Board has approved an additional investment of up to Rs 10 (bn) through a preferential allotment of equity shares or other convertible securities. This investment requires necessary regulatory, board, and shareholder approvals.

As of June 30, 2026, Hero MotoCorp owns a 29.48% stake in Ather Energy. Once the new investment is finalized, its shareholding may increase based on the final pricing and structure of the issue.

The transaction is expected to be finalized within 15 days after receiving all the required approvals.
