Speaking of stock markets, Tanushree Banerjee, Research Analyst at Equitymaster, highlights that tollbooth monopoly stocks are facing rising regulatory risks that could weaken their strong moats.
She notes that changes like market coupling are challenging platforms such as IEX. The main risk is not earnings, but valuation de-rating due to reduced pricing power.

HDFC AMC reported a 12% year-on-year increase in net profit to Rs 8.37 bn for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, compared with Rs 7.48 bn in the corresponding quarter last year.
Revenue grew 14% year-on-year to Rs 11 bn in Q1 FY27 from Rs 9.68 bn a year earlier.
Meanwhile, total expenses increased 27% year-on-year to Rs 2.71 bn during the quarter.
Exide Industries has invested Rs 1 bn in its wholly owned subsidiary, Exide Energy Solutions (EESL), through a rights issue.
Following the latest infusion, the company's total investment in EESL has increased to Rs 49.02 bn. The transaction does not result in any change in Exide Industries' shareholding in EESL.
Exide stands as a leading player in battery manufacturing and energy solutions. The company offers a wide range of energy storage solutions across automotive, industrial, and infrastructure segments.
Exide has built a strong circular economy model through its battery recycling operations, helping reduce dependence on virgin raw materials and lower its environmental footprint.
HDB Financial Services reported a 38% year-on-year increase in net profit to Rs 7.85 bn for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, driven by healthy loan demand and improving asset quality. Net profit stood at Rs 5.68 bn in the corresponding quarter last year.
Net interest income (NII) rose 20% year-on-year to Rs 25.09 bn in Q1 FY27 from Rs 20.92 bn a year earlier, while total income increased 17% to Rs 31.85 bn from Rs 27.26 bn.
Assets under management (AUM) grew 11.3% year-on-year to Rs 1,220.48 bn as of June 30, 2026, compared with Rs 1,096.90 bn a year ago. Gross loan book also expanded 11.4% to Rs 1,218.46 bn from Rs 1,093.42 bn over the same period.
