Indian equity benchmarks indices, Sensex and Nifty50 snapped a five-day losing streak as oil prices slumped after the US and Iran paused strikes.

At the closing bell on Monday, the BSE Sensex  closed points 776 higher (up 1%)

Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 229 points higher (up 0.9%)

Eternal, Infosys, Bajaj Finance were the top gainers today.

HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Power Grid Corp on the other hand, were among the top losers today.

The BSE 150 Midcap index is trading 1.1% higher and the BSE 250 SmallCap index is trading 1.3% higher.

Baring telecommunication sector all other sectoral indices were trading positive on Monday with IT sector and realty sector witnessed buying.

Speaking of stock markets, Tanushree Banerjee, Research Analyst at Equitymaster, highlights that tollbooth monopoly stocks are facing rising regulatory risks that could weaken their strong moats.

She notes that changes like market coupling are challenging platforms such as IEX. The main risk is not earnings, but valuation de-rating due to reduced pricing power.

SAIL share price will be in focus today.

Shares of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) came into focus after the company reported its Q1 business update.

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) reported a 120.8% year-on-year (YoY) surge in consolidated net profit to Rs 16.44 billion in the first quarter of FY27, compared with Rs 7.45 billion in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, primarily driven by lower operating expenses.

Mphasis share price will be in focus today.

Shares of Mphasis came into focus after the company reported its Q1 business update.

Mphasis reported a 17.46% year-on-year (YoY) increase in revenue to Rs 43.84 billion in the first quarter of FY27, compared with Rs 37.32 billion in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

Waaree Renewable Wins Major Solar EPC Orders

Waaree Renewable Technologies has secured two Letters of Award (LoAs) from a leading Indian renewable energy company for executing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) works for two ground-mounted Solar PV projects.

The first project involves a 400 MWac / 530 MWp solar plant, while the second project includes a 400 MWac / 552 MWp capacity plant. Together, the projects represent a total order size of 800 MWac / 1,082 MWp.

The projects are expected to be completed during FY2027-28, as per the agreed contractual timelines.

The order win strengthens Waaree Renewable Technologies' EPC order book and further enhances its position in India's utility-scale solar infrastructure sector. Waaree Renewable Technologies Limited, a subsidiary of the Waaree Group, leads the group's Solar EPC business operations.

REC Q1FY27 Results

Shares of REC came into focus after the company reported its Q1 FY27 results.

REC reported a 23% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase in net profit to Rs 41.49 billion in Q1 FY27, supported by strong operational performance. The company's Net Interest Income (NII) also increased by 5% QoQ to Rs 52.12 billion during the quarter.

The company's Net Interest Margin (NIM) stood at 3.34%, reflecting the strength of its lending portfolio and disciplined financial management. REC's standalone loan book reached nearly Rs 590 billion as of 30 June 2026, making it the largest among CPSU-NBFCs in India.

The Capital Adequacy Ratio (CRAR) stood at 23.06% at the end of the June quarter, significantly above the RBI-mandated minimum requirement of 15%, highlighting the company's strong capital position.

According to the company's exchange filing, REC's renewable energy portfolio continued to grow strongly, reaching nearly Rs 78.60 billion, accounting for 13.32% of its total loan portfolio. The infrastructure and logistics portfolio also increased to nearly Rs 59.29 billion, contributing more than 10% of overall loan assets.

AU Small Finance Bank Q1FY27 Results

Shares of AU Small Finance Bank came into focus after the company reported its Q1 FY27 results.

AU Small Finance Bank (AU SFB) reported a 37% year-on-year (YoY) increase in net profit to Rs 7.96 billion in Q1 FY27, supported by strong growth in Net Interest Income (NII) and lower provisions. However, on a sequential basis, net profit declined 4% compared with the previous quarter.

The bank's Net Interest Income (NII) increased 32% YoY to Rs 26.95 billion, driven by healthy growth in advances, while other income declined 15% to Rs 6.89 billion. The Net Interest Margin (NIM) improved by 59 basis points (bps) YoY to 5.9%, although it declined marginally by 7 bps QoQ due to the reversal of one-time gains recorded in the previous quarter.

Asset quality showed improvement in credit performance, with slippages declining 22% YoY to Rs 7.98 billion from Rs 10.27 billion in Q1 FY26, supported by lower stress in the unsecured loan portfolio. Provisions declined 30% YoY to Rs 3.71 billion as pressure in the unsecured lending segment eased.

However, asset quality weakened slightly on a sequential basis, with Gross Non-Performing Assets (GNPA) increasing by 7 bps QoQ to 2.10%, while Net NPA rose by 2 bps to 0.76%.

The bank's gross loan portfolio grew 23% YoY to Rs 1.44 trillion, supported by strong growth in secured lending segments. Secured businesses, including retail and commercial loans, increased 25%, while unsecured businesses such as microfinance, credit cards, and personal loans grew 11%. Overall loan disbursements increased 42% YoY.

Total deposits increased 24% YoY and 3% QoQ to Rs 1.58 trillion. CASA deposits grew 22% YoY and 5% QoQ, with the CASA ratio remaining healthy at 29%, reflecting stable deposit mobilisation and customer confidence.
