Tata Motors To Sell Stake in Tata Technologies | HDFC Life Q2 Results | Top Buzzing Stocks Today

On Friday, Indian share markets continued the downtrend as the session progressed and ended the day lower.

Benchmark indices snapped their two-day winning streak as weak quarterly result by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Q2-FY24 took investor fund away from IT pack.

At the closing bell on Friday, the BSE Sensex stood lower by 126 points (down 0.2%).

Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed lower by 60 points (down 0.3%).

Tata Motors and Nestle were among the top gainers.

Infosys and SBI on the other hand, were among the top losers.

Broader markets ended on a positive note. The BSE Midcap index and the BSE SmallCap ended marginally lower.

Sectoral indices ended on mixed with stocks in the metal sector and banking sector witnessing buying. Meanwhile stocks in auto sector and realty sector witnessed selling pressure.

Shares of Nestle and Bosch hit their 52-week high on Friday.

The rupee was trading at 83.25 against the US$.

Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX were trading up by 0.6% at Rs 58,311 per 10 grams at the time of Indian market closing hours on Friday.

At 7:40 AM today, the Gift Nifty was trading up by 16 points or 0.1% at 19,717 level.

Indian share markets are headed for a positive opening today following the trend on Gift Nifty.

Top buzzing stocks today

Dr Reddy's Lab share price will be in focus today.

Dr Reddy's Laboratories stock price declined 2.3% in trade onv13 October amid a weak domestic market. The US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) completed an inspection at the pharma major's manufacturing facility and issued a Form 483 with nine observations.

The USFDA completed a product-specific pre-approval inspection (PAI) at the pharma player's biologics manufacturing facility.

SpiceJet will also be a top buzzing stock.

SpiceJet sector, shares of low-cost carrier SpiceJet surged on October 13 ahead of a hearing in the Delhi High Court in its case against Sun Group chairman Kalanithi Maran. The case pertains to an arbitral award in favour of Maran.

Tata Motors Divests Tata Technologies

Tata Motors on 13 October said it has agreed to sell a 9.9% stake in IPO-bound Tata Technologies for Rs 16.1 bn to TPG Rise Climate SF Pte, a climate-focused private equity fund, and Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation, for an equity valuation of Rs 163 bn.

TPG, which also invested in Tata Motors' electric vehicle business, will pick up 9% of Tata Technologies, while Ratan Tata Endowment Fund (RTEF) will buy the rest 0.9%.

An amount of Rs 14.7 bn will be received by Tata Motors as consideration for the sale of its stake to TPG, while RTEF will pay Rs 1.5 bn. Transaction to be completed by 27 October 2023.

Tata Technologies is a global engineering services company offering product development and digital solutions, including turnkey solutions, to global original equipment manufacturers.

The company uses domain expertise in the automotive industry to serve clients in industries such as aerospace, transportation, and heavy machinery.

Tata Technologies, whose initial public offer is expected soon, will be the first such offer from Tata Group in nearly two decades. The IPO includes the sale of up to 95.7 m equity shares, which accounts for 23.6% of the company's paid-up share capital, by Tata Motors, Alpha TC Holdings, and Tata Capital Growth Fund I.

The upcoming IPO of Tata Technologies is one of the most anticipated IPOs of the year and is being compared to Tata Elxsi, another Tata Group company that provides somewhat similar services. HDFC Life Q2 Results

Private sector insurance company HDFC Life Insurance on 13 October reported a net profit of Rs 3.8 bn in the September 2023 quarter of the financial year 2023-24, up by 15% from the year-ago period.

The company slightly beat market estimates, which had pegged net profit at Rs 3.7 bn, up 14.3% from the year-ago quarter.

The net premium income of the insurer came in at Rs 147.6 bn, up 28% from Rs 114.8 bn in the same quarter of the previous year.

The value of new business stood at Rs 8 bn compared to Rs 7.7 bn on a YoY basis. VNB's margin of the company stood at 26.4% versus 27.1% YoY.

The company reported an annualised premium equivalent (APE), which is a measure of new business written by a life insurance company, of Rs 30.5 bn.

HDFC Life, for the July-September FY24 quarter, saw a drop in sales through direct channels, brokers and agencies. Compared to this, the company's bancassurance channels saw a growth in total sales.

In the first half of FY24, the lender sold 4.76 lakh policies compared to 4.34 lakh policies in the corresponding period last year.

The insurer's solvency ratio dropped during the July-September FY24 quarter at 194 percent, compared to 210 percent a year ago. The solvency ratio of a life insurance company measures its cash flow in comparison to the amount it owes as total life cover.
