Chennai Petroleum share price has zoomed 8% and is presently trading at Rs 775.6.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 27,615.7 (up 1.1%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are Reliance Ind. (up 3.6%) and Petronet LNG (up 1.2%).

GUJARAT GAS (down 1.8%) and Indraprastha Gas (down 0.5%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, Chennai Petroleum has moved down from Rs 930.4 to Rs 775.6, registering a loss of Rs 154.8 (down 16.6%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved down from 30,192.0 to 27,615.7, registering a loss of 8.5% during the last 12 months.

The top losers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were GUJARAT GAS (down 29.5%), GAIL (down 23.0%) and Petronet LNG (down 21.4%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 84,365.7 (up 0.5%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are Reliance Ind. (up 3.6%) and Bajaj Finserv (up 2.7%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Reliance Ind. and Eternal Ltd.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 25,841.5 (up 0.5%). Cipla and Reliance Ind. are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 81,501.4 to 84,365.7, registering a gain of 2,864.3 points (up 3.5%).

Chennai Petroleum Financial Update...

Chennai Petroleum net profit fell 116.5% YoY to Rs -566 million for the quarter ended June 2025, compared to a profit of Rs 3,426 million a year ago. Net sales declined 8.2% to Rs 186,835 million during the period as against Rs 203,612 million in April-June 2024.

For the year ended March 2025, Chennai Petroleum reported 92.2% decrease in net profit to Rs 2,141 million compared to net profit of Rs 27,451 million during FY24. Revenue of the company fell 10.9% to Rs 476,621 million during FY25.

The current Price to earnings ratio of Chennai Petroleum, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at -47.3.
