Jindal Steel Plunges 6%; BSE METAL Index Down 4.8%

Jindal Steel share price has plunged 6% and is presently trading at Rs 1,146.5.

Meanwhile, the BSE METAL index is at 37,268.7 (down 4.8%).

Among the top losers in the BSE METAL index today are Hindalco (down 6.0%) and Hindustan Zinc (down 5.5%).

Over the last one year, Jindal Steel has moved up from Rs 904.8 to Rs 1,146.5, registering a gain of Rs 241.7 (up 26.7%).

On the other hand, the BSE METAL index has moved up from 30,121.4 to 37,268.7, registering a gain of 23.7% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE METAL index stocks during this same period were Vedanta (up 55.4%), SAIL (up 37.8%) and APOLLO TUBES (up 33.6%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 74,563.9 (down 1.9%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are L&T (down 7.4%) and Tata Steel (down 5.3%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Motors and Eternal Ltd.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 23,153.2 (down 2.1%). L&T and Hindalco are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 74,102.3 to 74,563.9, registering a gain of 461.6 points (up 0.6%).

Jindal Steel Financial Update...

Jindal Steel net profit fell 79.7% YoY to Rs 1,933 million for the quarter ended December 2025, compared to a profit of Rs 9,508 million a year ago. Net sales rose 10.9% to Rs 130,266 million during the period as against Rs 117,507 million in October-December 2024.

For the year ended March 2025, Jindal Steel reported 52.1% decrease in net profit to Rs 28,457 million compared to net profit of Rs 59,433 million during FY24. Revenue of the company fell 1.0% to Rs 416,534 million during FY25.

The current Price to earnings ratio of Jindal Steel, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 57.6.
