L&T Plunges 7%; BSE CAPITAL GOODS Index Down 3.0%

L&T share price has plunged 7% and is presently trading at Rs 3,446.5.

Meanwhile, the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index is at 67,620.2 (down 3.0%).

Among the top losers in the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index today are Bharat Forge (down 5.9%) and Graphite India (down 4.3%).

Thermax (up 2.2%) and V GUARD IND. (up 0.2%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, L&T has moved up from Rs 3,194.3 to Rs 3,446.5, registering a gain of Rs 252.3 (up 7.9%).

On the other hand, the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index has moved up from 57,968.7 to 67,620.2, registering a gain of 16.6% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index stocks during this same period were Bharat Electronics (up 58.5%), Bharat Forge (up 57.3%) and Graphite India (up 44.7%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 74,563.9 (down 1.9%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are Tata Steel (down 5.3%) and SBI (down 3.7%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Motors and Eternal Ltd.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 23,153.2 (down 2.1%). Hindalco and Tata Steel are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 74,102.3 to 74,563.9, registering a gain of 461.6 points (up 0.6%).

L&T Financial Update...

L&T net profit fell 4.3% YoY to Rs 38,292 million for the quarter ended December 2025, compared to a profit of Rs 40,010 million a year ago. Net sales rose 10.5% to Rs 714,497 million during the period as against Rs 646,678 million in October-December 2024.

For the year ended March 2025, L&T reported 13.6% increase in net profit to Rs 176,874 million compared to net profit of Rs 155,697 million during FY24. Revenue of the company grew 15.7% to Rs 2,557,345 million during FY25.

The current Price to earnings ratio of L&T, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 25.0.
