MRPL Plunges 4%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Down 0.5%

MRPL share price has plunged 4% and is presently trading at Rs 157.6.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 25,629.0 (down 0.5%).

Among the top losers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are HPCL (down 2.8%) and Petronet LNG (down 2.3%).

ADANI TOTAL GAS (up 0.8%) and Reliance Ind. (up 0.8%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, MRPL has moved up from Rs 143.2 to Rs 157.6, registering a gain of Rs 14.5 (up 10.1%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved down from 27,382.7 to 25,629.0, registering a loss of 6.4% during the last 12 months.

The top losers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were Indraprastha Gas (down 24.7%), GUJARAT GAS (down 20.9%) and Petronet LNG (down 15.5%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 74,243.7 (up 0.4%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are ICICI Bank (up 2.5%) and Kotak Bank (up 1.6%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are ICICI Bank and Eternal Ltd.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 23,285.6 (up 0.3%). ICICI Bank and Kotak Bank are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved down from 82,445.2 to 74,243.7, registering a loss of 8,201.5 points (down 9.9%).

MRPL Financial Update...

MRPL net profit fell 67.1% YoY to Rs 1,194 million for the quarter ended March 2026, compared to a profit of Rs 3,631 million a year ago. Net sales rose 3.2% to Rs 284,930 million during the period as against Rs 276,019 million in January-March 2025.

For the year ended March 2025, MRPL reported 98.4% decrease in net profit to Rs 562 million compared to net profit of Rs 35,971 million during FY24. Revenue of the company grew 5.9% to Rs 800,858 million during FY25.

The current Price to earnings ratio of MRPL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 14.4.
