NHPC Share Price Up by 6%; BSE POWER Index Down 0.5%

NHPC share price has zoomed 6% and is presently trading at Rs 24.

Meanwhile, the BSE POWER Index is at 2,059 (down 0.5%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE POWER Index today is NHPC (up 5.6%).

KALPATARU POWER (down 0.2%) and THERMAX (down 0.4%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, NHPC has moved down from Rs 28 to Rs 24, registering a loss of Rs 3 (down 12.1%).

On the other hand, the BSE POWER has moved up from 1,948 to 2,059, registering a gain of 111 points (up 3.9%) during the last 12 months.

The top buzzing stocks among the BSE POWER Index stocks during this same period were ADANI TRANSMISSION (up 41.3%), RELIANCE INFRA (up 40.2%) and TATA POWER (up 26.7%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 47,424 .

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are INDUSIND BANK (up 5.9%), BAJAJ FINANCE (up 1.5%) and ICICI BANK (up 1.3%). Other gainers include HDFC BANK (up 1.3%) and RELIANCE IND. (up 0.9%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are RELIANCE IND. and ICICI BANK.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 13,967 (down 0.1%). The top gainers in the NSE Nifty include INDUSIND BANK (up 5.9%), IOC (up 2.0%) and BAJAJ FINANCE (up 1.6%). Other gainers include BPCL (up 1.5%) and ICICI BANK (up 1.3%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 41,155 to 47,424, registering a gain of 6,269 points (up 13.85%).

NHPC Financial Update...

NHPC net profit down at Rs 3 billion for the quarter ended March 2020, compared to a loss of Rs 4 billion a year ago. Net Sales rose 6.6% to Rs 19.1 billion during the period as against Rs 18.0 billion in January-March 2019.

For the year ended March 2018, NHPC reported 26.1% decrease in net profit to Rs 20.4 billion compared to net profit of Rs 27.6 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 10.1% to Rs 78 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of NHPC, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 9.4x.
