Indian Stock Market Updates February 23, 2021

TATA STEEL Share Price Up by 5%; BSE METAL Index Up 3.3%

TATA STEEL share price has zoomed 5% and is presently trading at Rs 718.

Meanwhile, the BSE METAL Index is at 13,531 (up 3.3%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE METAL Index today are TATA STEEL (up 5.0%) and JINDAL STEEL & POWER (up 5.1%).

HINDUSTAN ZINC (down 0.4%) is among the top loser today.

Over the last one year, TATA STEEL has moved up from Rs 433 to Rs 718, registering a gain of Rs 285 (up 65.8%).

On the other hand, the BSE METAL has moved up from 9,549 to 13,531, registering a gain of 3,982 points (up 41.6%) during the last 12 months.

The top buzzing stocks among the BSE METAL Index stocks during this same period were JINDAL STEEL & POWER (up 79.4%), HINDALCO (up 77.4%) and SAIL (up 67.5%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 50,327 (up 0.2%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are ONGC (up 7.4%), TATA STEEL (up 5.0%) and INDUSIND BANK (up 2.6%). Other gainers include L&T (up 2.5%) and ULTRATECH CEMENT (up 2.3%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are ONGC and SBI.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 14,854 (up 0.4%). The top gainers in the NSE Nifty include ONGC (up 7.1%), TATA MOTORS (up 5.4%) and HINDALCO (up 5.4%). Other gainers include TATA STEEL (up 4.6%) and BPCL (up 4.2%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 41,323 to 50,327, registering a gain of 9,004 points (up 20.61%).

TATA STEEL Financial Update...

TATA STEEL net profit declined 428.8% YoY to Rs 39 billion for the quarter ended December 2020, compared to a loss of Rs 12 billion a year ago. Net Sales rose 11.5% to Rs 395.9 billion during the period as against Rs 355.2 billion in October-December 2019.

For the year ended March 2020, TATA STEEL reported 97.9% increase in net profit to Rs 187.8 billion compared to net profit of Rs 94.9 billion during FY19.

Revenue of the company grew 11.3% to Rs 1,398 billion during FY20.

The current Price to earnings ratio of TATA STEEL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at down 176.2x.
