TATA STEEL at All Time High; BSE METAL Index Up 3.0%

TATA STEEL share price has hit an all-time high at Rs 1,129 (up 5.4%).

Meanwhile, the BSE METAL Index is at 18,765 (up 3.0%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE METAL Index today are TATA STEEL (up 5.4%) and JSW STEEL (up 2.9%).

Over the last one year, TATA STEEL has moved up from Rs 274 to Rs 1,129, registering a gain of Rs 855 (up 311.5%).

The BSE METAL has moved up from 6,191 to 18,765, registering a gain of 12,574 points (up 202.4%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE METAL Index stocks during this same period were JINDAL STEEL & POWER (up 430.5%), SAIL (up 360.3%) and JSW STEEL (up 351.3%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 48,899 (up 0.3%). The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are TATA STEEL (up 5.4%), BAJAJ AUTO (up 1.9%) and ITC (up 1.5%). Other gainers include HDFC (up 1.5%) and BAJAJ FINANCE (up 1.4%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are TATA STEEL and ITC.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 14,694 (up 0.4%). The top gainers in the NSE Nifty include TATA STEEL (up 4.7%), JSW STEEL (up 2.4%) and BAJAJ AUTO (up 2.2%). Other gainers include HINDALCO (up 2.0%) and HERO MOTOCORP (up 1.9%).

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 31,715 to 48,899, registering a gain of 17,184 points (up 54.0%).

TATA STEEL Financial Update...

TATA STEEL net profit declined 428.8% YoY to Rs 39 billion for the quarter ended December 2020, compared to a loss of Rs 12 billion a year ago. Net Sales rose 11.5% to Rs 395.9 billion during the period as against Rs 355.2 billion in October-December 2019.

For the year ended March 2020, TATA STEEL reported 97.9% increase in net profit to Rs 187.8 billion compared to net profit of Rs 94.9 billion during FY19.

Revenue of the company grew 11.3% to Rs 1,398 billion during FY20.

The current Price to earnings ratio of TATA STEEL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at down 276.4x.
