BPCL Surges by 5%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 2.9%

BPCL share price has zoomed 5% and is presently trading at Rs 386.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS Index is at 14,728 (up 2.9%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS Index today are BPCL (up 5.1%) and HPCL (up 5.8%).

Over the last one year, BPCL has moved down from Rs 442 to Rs 386, registering a loss of Rs 56 (down 12.7%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS has moved down from 15,106 to 14,728, loss of 378 points (down 2.5%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS Index stocks during this same period were RELIANCE IND. (up 41.6%), GAIL (up 8.4%) and PETRONET LNG (up 1.8%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are BHARTI AIRTEL (up 5.0%), POWER GRID (up 4.3%) and COAL INDIA (up 4.1%). Other gainers include NTPC (up 3.9%) and VEDANTA LTD (up 2.8%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are YES BANK and TATA STEEL.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 11,169 (up 1.2%). HPCL (up 6.0%) and BPCL (up 5.4%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 33,352 to 37,018, registering a gain of 3,666 points (up 11.0%).

BPCL Financial Update...

BPCL net profit down at Rs 5 billion for the quarter ended December 2018, compared to a loss of Rs 21 billion a year ago. Net Sales rose 25.7% to Rs 882.4 billion during the period as against Rs 702.0 billion in October-December 2017.

For the year ended March 2018, BPCL reported 0.7% decrease in net profit to Rs 85.0 billion compared to net profit of Rs 85.6 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 14.6% to Rs 2,793 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of BPCL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 11.4x.
