HPCL Surges by 6%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 1.6%

HPCL share price has zoomed 6% and is presently trading at Rs 283.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS Index is at 14,610 (up 1.6%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS Index today are HPCL (up 5.6%) and BPCL (up 5.0%).

INDRAPRASTHA GAS (down 0.9%) and GAIL (down 0.9%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, HPCL has moved down from Rs 323 to Rs 283, registering a loss of Rs 40 (down 12.5%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS has moved down from 14,732 to 14,610, loss of 122 points (down 1.0%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS Index stocks during this same period were RELIANCE IND. (up 29.0%), INDRAPRASTHA GAS (up 10.8%) and PETRONET LNG (up 7.4%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 37,428 (up 0.7%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are BAJAJ FINANCE (up 3.9%), TATA MOTORS (up 3.4%) and TATA MOTORS DVR (up 2.7%). Other gainers include VEDANTA LTD (up 2.4%) and INFOSYS (up 2.3%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are SUN PHARMA and TATA MOTORS.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 11,265 (up 0.9%). ZEE ENTERTAINMENT (up 7.6%) and BPCL (up 4.8%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 35,544 to 37,428, registering a gain of 1,884 points (up 5.1%).

HPCL Financial Update...

HPCL net profit down at Rs 2 billion for the quarter ended December 2018, compared to a loss of Rs 19 billion a year ago. Net Sales rose 22.8% to Rs 771.8 billion during the period as against Rs 628.3 billion in October-December 2017.

For the year ended March 2018, HPCL reported 0.3% decrease in net profit to Rs 59.0 billion compared to net profit of Rs 59.2 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 14.0% to Rs 2,443 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of HPCL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 9.0x.
