GAIL Plunges by 5%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Down 0.5%

GAIL share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 339.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS Index is at 15,663 (down 0.5%).

Among the top losers in the BSE OIL & GAS Index today is GAIL (down 5.4%).

IOC (up 1.5%) and BPCL (up 0.7%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, GAIL has moved up from Rs 334 to Rs 339, registering a gain of Rs 4 (up 1.3%)..

The BSE OIL & GAS has moved up from 14,336 to 15,663, registering a gain of 1,327 points (up 9.3%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS Index stocks during this same period were RELIANCE IND. (up 44.1%), INDRAPRASTHA GAS (up 28.5%) and PETRONET LNG (up 14.0%).

GAIL Financial Update...

GAIL net profit down at Rs 11 billion for the quarter ended March 2019, compared to a loss of Rs 17 billion a year ago. Net Sales declined 5.2% to Rs 187.6 billion during the period as against Rs 197.9 billion in January-March 2018.

For the year ended March 2018, GAIL reported 24.3% increase in net profit to Rs 46.5 billion compared to net profit of Rs 37.4 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 10.9% to Rs 547 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of GAIL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 12.7x.
