SAIL Plunges by 5%; BSE METAL Index Down 4.2%

SAIL share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 42.

Meanwhile, the BSE METAL Index is at 9,574 (down 4.2%).

Among the top losers in the BSE METAL Index today are SAIL (down 5.1%) and JSW STEEL (down 5.1%).

Over the last one year, SAIL has moved down from Rs 48 to Rs 42, registering a loss of Rs 6 (down 12.8%)..

The BSE METAL has moved down from 10,381 to 9,574, loss of 807 points (down 7.8%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE METAL Index stocks during this same period were JINDAL STEEL & POWER (up 19.5%) and NMDC LTD (up 8.9%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 41,037 (down 1.1%). The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are INFOSYS (up 1.1%), TECH MAHINDRA (up 1.0%) and TCS (up 0.6%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are INFOSYS and TCS.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 12,013 (down 1.3%). INFOSYS (up 0.9%) and TECH MAHINDRA (up 0.9%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 35,756 to 41,037, registering a gain of 5,281 points (up 13.9%).

SAIL Financial Update...

SAIL net profit down at Rs 4 billion for the quarter ended December 2019, compared to a loss of Rs 6 billion a year ago. Net Sales rose 4.5% to Rs 165.4 billion during the period as against Rs 158.4 billion in October-December 2018.

For the year ended March 2019, SAIL reported 524.4% decrease in net profit to Rs 25.2 billion compared to net profit of Rs 5.9 billion during FY18.

Revenue of the company grew 13.6% to Rs 670 billion during FY19.

The current Price to earnings ratio of SAIL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at down 70.2x.
