HDFC Surges by 10%; BSE 500 Index Up 3.8%

HDFC share price has zoomed 10% and is presently trading at Rs 2,125.

Meanwhile, the BSE 500 Index is at 13,147 (up 3.8%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE 500 Index today are HDFC (up 10.1%) and RATNAMANI METALS (up 13.0%).

TVS SRICHAKRA and RAYMOND (down 0.1%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, HDFC has moved up from Rs 1,932 to Rs 2,125, registering a gain of Rs 193 (up 6.8%).

On the other hand, the BSE 500 has moved down from 14,949 to 13,147, loss of 1,802 points (down 13.0%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE 500 Index stocks during this same period were ADANI GREEN ENERGY (up 233.6%), ABBOTT INDIA (up 104.0%) and NAVIN FLUORINE (up 100.5%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 34,769 (up 4.6%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are TATA STEEL (up 15.3%), SBI (up 14.8%) and HDFC (up 10.1%). Other gainers include SUN PHARMA (up 8.8%) and ONGC (up 6.5%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are SBI and ONGC.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 10,159 (up 4.5%). SBI (up 14.9%) and TATA STEEL (up 14.5%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved down from 37,536 to 34,769, registering a loss of 2,767 points (down 8.65%).

HDFC Financial Update...

HDFC net profit stood at Rs 84 billion for the quarter ended December 2019, compared to a profit of Rs 21 billion a year ago. Net Sales rose 92.2% to Rs 202.9 billion during the period as against Rs 105.6 billion in October-December 2018.

For the year ended March 2019, HDFC reported 42.0% increase in net profit to Rs 101.9 billion compared to net profit of Rs 71.7 billion during FY18.

Revenue of the company grew 20.9% to Rs 910 billion during FY19.

The current Price to earnings ratio of HDFC, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 19.3x.
