UPL Plunges by 5%; BSE 500 Index Down 0.7%

UPL share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 375.

Meanwhile, the BSE 500 Index is at 12,151 (down 0.7%).

Among the top losers in the BSE 500 Index today are UPL (down 5.5%) and CRISIL (down 7.5%).

YES BANK (up 10.0%) and INDIA CEMENTS (up 6.8%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, UPL has moved down from Rs 618 to Rs 375, registering a loss of Rs 243 (down 39.3%)..

The BSE 500 has moved down from 15,069 to 12,151, loss of 2,918 points (down 19.4%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE 500 Index stocks during this same period were ADANI GREEN ENERGY (up 201.3%), ABBOTT INDIA (up 95.3%) and NAVIN FLUORINE (up 83.5%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 31,832 (down 0.9%). The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are TATA STEEL (up 4.0%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are ONGC and SBI.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 9,315 (down 1.6%). YES BANK (up 10.0%) and TATA STEEL (up 2.5%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved down from 38,095 to 31,832, registering a loss of 6,263 points (down 18.31%).

UPL Financial Update...

UPL net profit stood at Rs 8 billion for the quarter ended December 2019, compared to a profit of Rs 5 billion a year ago. Net Sales rose 80.7% to Rs 88.9 billion during the period as against Rs 49.2 billion in October-December 2018.

For the year ended March 2019, UPL reported 10.5% decrease in net profit to Rs 19.6 billion compared to net profit of Rs 21.9 billion during FY18.

Revenue of the company grew 24.7% to Rs 218 billion during FY19.

The current Price to earnings ratio of UPL , based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 12.9x.
