MARICO Plunges by 5%; BSE FMCG Index Down 7.6%

MARICO share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 254.

Meanwhile, the BSE FMCG Index is at 9,307 (down 7.6%).

Among the top losers in the BSE FMCG Index today are MARICO (down 5.1%) and GSK CONSUMER (down 6.3%).

Over the last one year, MARICO has moved down from Rs 338 to Rs 254, registering a loss of Rs 84 (down 24.9%)..

The BSE FMCG has moved down from 11,731 to 9,307, loss of 2,424 points (down 20.7%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE FMCG Index stocks during this same period were NESTLE (up 28.8%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS (up 21.4%) and GSK CONSUMER (up 19.9%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 27,901 (down 9.2%).

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 8,159 (down 9.0%).

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved down from 38,387 to 27,901, registering a loss of 10,486 points (down 29.22%).

MARICO Financial Update...

MARICO net profit stood at Rs 3 billion for the quarter ended December 2019, compared to a profit of Rs 3 billion a year ago. Net Sales declined 2.0% to Rs 18.2 billion during the period as against Rs 18.6 billion in October-December 2018.

For the year ended March 2018, MARICO reported 1.9% increase in net profit to Rs 8.3 billion compared to net profit of Rs 8.1 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 6.7% to Rs 63 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of MARICO, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 25.1x.
