Indian Stock Market Updates November 9, 2018

NHPC LTD Surges by 5%; BSE POWER Index Up 0.5%

NHPC LTD share price has zoomed 5% and is presently trading at Rs 26.

Meanwhile, the BSE POWER Index is at 1,980 (up 0.5%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE POWER Index today is NHPC LTD (up 5.2%).

BHEL (down 0.3%) and GMR INFRA (down 0.3%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, NHPC LTD has moved down from Rs 28 to Rs 26, registering a loss of Rs 2 (down 7.4%).

On the other hand, the BSE POWER has moved down from 2,291 to 1,980, loss of 311 points (down 13.7%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE POWER Index stocks during this same period were ADANI POWER (up 47.6%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 35,287 (down 0.3%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are ASIAN PAINTS (up 4.2%), YES BANK (up 4.0%) and SUN PHARMA (up 2.7%). Other gainers include ADANI PORTS & SEZ (up 2.3%) and HERO MOTOCORP (up 1.8%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are YES BANK and ADANI PORTS & SEZ.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 10,620 (down 0.1%). HPCL (up 4.5%) is among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 33,371 to 35,287, registering a gain of 1,916 points (up 5.4%).

NHPC LTD Financial Update...

NHPC LTD net profit stood at Rs 6 billion for the quarter ended June 2018, compared to a profit of Rs 5 billion a year ago. Net Sales rose 42.1% to Rs 21.3 billion during the period as against Rs 15.0 billion in April-June 2017.

For the year ended March 2018, NHPC LTD reported 26.1% decrease in net profit to Rs 20.4 billion compared to net profit of Rs 27.6 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 10.1% to Rs 78 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of NHPC LTD, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 13.7x.
