SAIL Surges by 5%; BSE METAL Index Up 1.6%

SAIL share price has zoomed 5% and is presently trading at Rs 51.

Meanwhile, the BSE METAL Index is at 10,940 (up 1.6%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE METAL Index today is SAIL (up 5.2%).

Over the last one year, SAIL has moved down from Rs 83 to Rs 51, registering a loss of Rs 32 (down 38.9%).

On the other hand, the BSE METAL has moved down from 15,174 to 10,940, loss of 4,234 points (down 27.9%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE METAL Index stocks during this same period were [param_historic_top3].

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 36,141 (up 0.7%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are VEDANTA LTD (up 2.8%), TATA MOTORS DVR (up 2.0%) and YES BANK (up 1.6%). Other gainers include TATA MOTORS (up 1.3%) and NTPC (up 1.1%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are YES BANK and VEDANTA LTD.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 10,872 (up 0.7%). VEDANTA LTD (up 2.8%) is among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 34,184 to 36,141, registering a gain of 1,957 points (up 5.6%).

SAIL Financial Update...

SAIL net profit stood at Rs 6 billion for the quarter ended December 2018, compared to a profit of Rs 432 million a year ago. Net Sales rose 3.3% to Rs 158.4 billion during the period as against Rs 153.2 billion in October-December 2017.

For the year ended March 2018, SAIL reported 78.3% decrease in net profit to Rs 5.9 billion compared to net profit of Rs 27.3 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 18.3% to Rs 590 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of SAIL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 8.3x.
