Indian Stock Market Updates September 20, 2019

TATA STEEL Surges by 5%; BSE METAL Index Up 3.8%

TATA STEEL share price has zoomed 5% and is presently trading at Rs 368.

Meanwhile, the BSE METAL Index is at 9,209 (up 3.8%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE METAL Index today are TATA STEEL (up 5.1%) and JINDAL STEEL & POWER (up 6.9%).

NMDC LTD (down 0.1%) is among the top loser today.

Over the last one year, TATA STEEL has moved down from Rs 620 to Rs 368, registering a loss of Rs 252 (down 41.6%).

On the other hand, the BSE METAL has moved down from 14,014 to 9,209, loss of 4,805 points (down 34.8%) during the last 12 months.

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 37,813 (up 4.7%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are HDFC BANK (up 9.2%), MARUTI SUZUKI (up 9.1%) and L&T (up 7.6%). Other gainers include INDUSIND BANK (up 7.3%) and YES BANK (up 7.0%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are YES BANK and TATA MOTORS.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 11,202 (up 4.6%). EICHER MOTOR (up 12.3%) and HDFC BANK (up 8.7%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 37,121 to 37,813, registering a gain of 692 points (up 1.8%).

TATA STEEL Financial Update...

TATA STEEL net profit down at Rs 6 billion for the quarter ended June 2019, compared to a loss of Rs 17 billion a year ago. Net Sales declined 12.8% to Rs 359.5 billion during the period as against Rs 412.2 billion in April-June 2018.

For the year ended March 2019, TATA STEEL reported 19.1% increase in net profit to Rs 94.9 billion compared to net profit of Rs 79.6 billion during FY18.

Revenue of the company grew 27.0% to Rs 1,577 billion during FY19.

The current Price to earnings ratio of TATA STEEL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 54.1x.
