CHENNAI PETROLEUM Surges by 6%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 1.0%

CHENNAI PETROLEUM share price has zoomed 6% and is presently trading at Rs 172.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS Index is at 15,470 (up 1.0%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS Index today is CHENNAI PETROLEUM (up 6.1%).

INDRAPRASTHA GAS (down 0.5%) and OIL INDIA (down 0.5%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, CHENNAI PETROLEUM has moved down from Rs 265 to Rs 172, registering a loss of Rs 93 (down 36.0%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS has moved up from 13,148 to 15,470, registering a gain of 2,322 points (up 17.6%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS Index stocks during this same period were BPCL (up 86.4%), INDRAPRASTHA GAS (up 53.0%) and HPCL (up 47.8%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 39,305 .

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are YES BANK (up 4.7%), TCS (up 2.3%) and HUL (up 1.8%). Other gainers include HDFC BANK (up 1.4%) and RELIANCE IND. (up 1.1%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are YES BANK and HDFC.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 11,688 (up 0.1%). YES BANK (up 6.2%) is among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 34,316 to 39,305, registering a gain of 4,989 points (up 14.5%).

CHENNAI PETROLEUM Financial Update...

CHENNAI PETROLEUM net profit declined 36.4% YoY to Rs 2 billion for the quarter ended June 2019, compared to a loss of Rs 4 billion a year ago. Net Sales rose 6.0% to Rs 127.2 billion during the period as against Rs 120.1 billion in April-June 2018.

For the year ended March 2018, CHENNAI PETROLEUM reported 12.1% decrease in net profit to Rs 9.0 billion compared to net profit of Rs 10.2 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 8.8% to Rs 442 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of CHENNAI PETROLEUM, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at down 4.2x.
