Indian Stock Market Updates January 9, 2020

TATA MOTORS Surges by 5%; BSE AUTO Index Up 2.6%

TATA MOTORS share price has zoomed 5% and is presently trading at Rs 192.

Meanwhile, the BSE AUTO Index is at 18,310 (up 2.6%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE AUTO Index today is TATA MOTORS (up 5.1%).

Over the last one year, TATA MOTORS has moved up from Rs 179 to Rs 192, registering a gain of Rs 13 (up 7.0%).

On the other hand, the BSE AUTO has moved down from 19,968 to 18,310, loss of 1,658 points (down 8.4%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE AUTO Index stocks during this same period were BALKRISHNA INDUSTRIES (up 18.2%), BAJAJ AUTO (up 14.6%) and BHARAT FORGE (up 7.6%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 41,473 (up 1.6%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are ICICI BANK (up 3.9%), INDUSIND BANK (up 3.4%) and SBI (up 3.2%). Other gainers include M&M (up 3.2%) and AXIS BANK (up 2.6%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are ICICI BANK and SBI.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 12,224 (up 1.6%). JSW STEEL (up 5.8%) is among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 35,981 to 41,473, registering a gain of 5,492 points (up 15.3%).

TATA MOTORS Financial Update...

TATA MOTORS net profit declined 100.7% YoY to Rs 2 billion for the quarter ended September 2019, compared to a loss of Rs 268 billion a year ago. Net Sales declined 15.0% to Rs 654.3 billion during the period as against Rs 770.0 billion in July-September 2018.

For the year ended March 2019, TATA MOTORS reported 85.2% decrease in net profit to Rs 7.2 billion compared to net profit of Rs 48.4 billion during FY18.

Revenue of the company grew 3.3% to Rs 3,019 billion during FY19.

The current Price to earnings ratio of TATA MOTORS, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at down 1.9x.
