Indian Stock Market Updates February 17, 2020

GIC HOUSING Plunges by 5%; BSE 500 Index Down 0.6%

GIC HOUSING share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 130.

Meanwhile, the BSE 500 Index is at 15,843 (down 0.6%).

Among the top losers in the BSE 500 Index today are GIC HOUSING (down 5.1%) and J.B.CHEMICALS (down 5.8%).

SUVEN LIFESCIENCES (up 5.0%) and RELIANCE INFRA (up 4.6%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, GIC HOUSING has moved down from Rs 232 to Rs 130, registering a loss of Rs 102 (down 44.0%)..

The BSE 500 has moved up from 14,065 to 15,843, registering a gain of 1,778 points (up 12.6%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE 500 Index stocks during this same period were ADANI GREEN ENERGY (up 524.7%), ICICI SECURITIES LTD (up 141.8%) and NIPPON LIFE INDIA AMC (up 139.4%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 41,420 (down 0.4%). The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are TITAN (up 1.9%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are TATA STEEL and INDUSIND BANK.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 12,160 (down 0.6%). TITAN (up 1.6%) and NESTLE (up 1.2%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 35,876 to 41,420, registering a gain of 5,544 points (up 14.5%).

GIC HOUSING Financial Update...

GIC HOUSING net profit down at Rs 149 million for the quarter ended June 2019, compared to a loss of Rs 350 million a year ago. Net Sales rose 1.5% to Rs 3.1 billion during the period as against Rs 3.1 billion in April-June 2018.

For the year ended March 2018, GIC HOUSING reported 24.8% increase in net profit to Rs 1.8 billion compared to net profit of Rs 1.5 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 12.2% to Rs 11 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of GIC HOUSING, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 4.5x.
