Indian Stock Market Updates February 19, 2020

TATA MOTORS Plunges by 5%; BSE AUTO Index Down 1.0%

TATA MOTORS share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 164.

Meanwhile, the BSE AUTO Index is at 17,503 (down 1.0%).

Among the top losers in the BSE AUTO Index today is TATA MOTORS (down 5.0%).

CUMMINS INDIA (up 1.3%) and TVS MOTORS (up 0.5%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, TATA MOTORS has moved up from Rs 163 to Rs 164, registering a gain of Rs 1 (up 0.7%)..

The BSE AUTO has moved down from 18,111 to 17,503, loss of 608 points (down 3.4%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE AUTO Index stocks during this same period were BALKRISHNA INDUSTRIES (up 51.2%), MRF LTD. (up 28.3%) and BAJAJ AUTO (up 10.5%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 41,310 (up 0.5%). The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are NESTLE (up 2.4%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are NTPC and BHARTI AIRTEL.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 12,119 (up 0.6%). BHARTI INFRATEL (up 6.4%) is among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 35,498 to 41,310, registering a gain of 5,812 points (up 15.8%).

TATA MOTORS Financial Update...

TATA MOTORS net profit declined 107.3% YoY to Rs 20 billion for the quarter ended December 2019, compared to a loss of Rs 268 billion a year ago. Net Sales declined 6.9% to Rs 716.8 billion during the period as against Rs 770.0 billion in October-December 2018.

For the year ended March 2019, TATA MOTORS reported 85.2% decrease in net profit to Rs 7.2 billion compared to net profit of Rs 48.4 billion during FY18.

Revenue of the company grew 3.3% to Rs 3,019 billion during FY19.

The current Price to earnings ratio of TATA MOTORS, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at down 294.4x.
