Indian Stock Market Updates April 9, 2020

TORRENT PHARMA at All Time High; BSE HEALTHCARE Index Up 4.0%

TORRENT PHARMA share price has hit an all-time high at Rs 2,679 (up 2.8%).

Meanwhile, the BSE HEALTHCARE Index is at 14,619 (up 4.0%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE HEALTHCARE Index today are TORRENT PHARMA (up 2.8%) and ABBOTT INDIA (up 4.3%).

DR. LAL PATHLABS LTD (down 1.6%) and THYROCARE TECHNOLOGIES (down 3.7%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, TORRENT PHARMA has moved up from Rs 1,794 to Rs 2,679, registering a gain of Rs 886 (up 45.2%).

The BSE HEALTHCARE has moved up from 14,273 to 14,619, registering a gain of 346 points (up 2.2%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE HEALTHCARE Index stocks during this same period were ABBOTT INDIA (up 149.4%), IPCA LABS (up 77.7%) and ALKEM LABORATORIES (up 60.8%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 30,760 (up 2.3%). The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are SUN PHARMA (up 4.4%), AXIS BANK (up 4.0%) and TECH MAHINDRA (up 3.8%). Other gainers include HDFC (up 3.6%) and ICICI BANK (up 3.6%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are SBI and INDUSIND BANK.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 9,000 (up 2.6%). The top gainers in the NSE Nifty include CIPLA (up 15.0%), VEDANTA LTD (up 7.1%) and TATA MOTORS (up 6.1%). Other gainers include JSW STEEL (up 5.2%) and HDFC (up 4.3%).

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved down from 38,701 to 30,760, registering a loss of -7,941 points (up -21.0%).

TORRENT PHARMA Financial Update...

TORRENT PHARMA net profit stood at Rs 3 billion for the quarter ended December 2019, compared to a profit of Rs 2 billion a year ago. Net Sales declined 4.1% to Rs 19.7 billion during the period as against Rs 20.5 billion in October-December 2018.

For the year ended March 2019, TORRENT PHARMA reported 17.0% increase in net profit to Rs 7.9 billion compared to net profit of Rs 6.8 billion during FY18.

Revenue of the company grew 29.0% to Rs 77 billion during FY19.

The current Price to earnings ratio of TORRENT PHARMA, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 78.8x.
