HPCL Surges by 5%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 1.9%

HPCL share price has zoomed 5% and is presently trading at Rs 196.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS Index is at 11,672 (up 1.9%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS Index today is HPCL (up 5.3%).

RELIANCE IND. (down 0.7%) is among the top loser today.

Over the last one year, HPCL has moved down from Rs 318 to Rs 196, registering a loss of Rs 122 (down 38.5%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS has moved down from 15,617 to 11,672, loss of 3,945 points (down 25.4%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS Index stocks during this same period were INDRAPRASTHA GAS (up 47.7%), RELIANCE IND. (up 11.3%) and PETRONET LNG (up 2.0%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 32,243 (down 0.5%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are BAJAJ AUTO (up 3.0%), ITC (up 2.0%) and HERO MOTOCORP (up 1.9%). Other gainers include L&T (up 1.7%) and INDUSIND BANK (up 1.1%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are SBI and HUL.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 9,523 (down 0.2%). The top gainers in the NSE Nifty include BHARTI INFRATEL (up 5.3%), WIPRO (up 5.1%) and BPCL (up 3.3%). Other gainers include COAL INDIA (up 3.1%) and DR. REDDYS LAB (up 2.9%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved down from 39,750 to 32,243, registering a loss of 7,507 points (down 19.40%).

HPCL Financial Update...

HPCL net profit stood at Rs 7 billion for the quarter ended December 2019, compared to a profit of Rs 2 billion a year ago. Net Sales declined 3.4% to Rs 745.9 billion during the period as against Rs 771.8 billion in October-December 2018.

For the year ended March 2019, HPCL reported 2.3% decrease in net profit to Rs 57.6 billion compared to net profit of Rs 59.0 billion during FY18.

Revenue of the company grew 21.7% to Rs 2,972 billion during FY19.

The current Price to earnings ratio of HPCL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 5.4x.
