Indian Stock Market Updates July 21, 2020

CHENNAI PETROLEUM Share Price Up by 11%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 2.8%

CHENNAI PETROLEUM share price has zoomed 11% and is presently trading at Rs 91.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS Index is at 13,752 (up 2.8%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS Index today is CHENNAI PETROLEUM (up 10.5%).

PETRONET LNG (down 1.1%) and INDRAPRASTHA GAS (down 2.2%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, CHENNAI PETROLEUM has moved down from Rs 195 to Rs 91, registering a loss of Rs 104 (down 53.4%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS has moved down from 14,055 to 13,752, loss of 303 points (down 2.6%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS Index stocks during this same period were RELIANCE IND. (up 54.9%), BPCL (up 33.3%) and INDRAPRASTHA GAS (up 29.2%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 37,923 (up 1.2%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are MARUTI SUZUKI (up 4.1%), HDFC (up 3.6%) and POWER GRID (up 3.6%). Other gainers include ICICI BANK (up 3.3%) and AXIS BANK (up 2.9%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are SBI and AXIS BANK.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 11,164 (up 1.3%). The top gainers in the NSE Nifty include BPCL (up 7.6%), EICHER MOTOR (up 4.2%) and MARUTI SUZUKI (up 4.1%). Other gainers include IOC (up 4.0%) and HDFC (up 3.5%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved down from 38,031 to 37,923, registering a loss of 108 points (down 0.40%).

CHENNAI PETROLEUM Financial Update...

CHENNAI PETROLEUM net profit down at Rs 16 billion for the quarter ended March 2020, compared to a loss of Rs 64 million a year ago. Net Sales declined 1.6% to Rs 117.7 billion during the period as against Rs 119.7 billion in January-March 2019.

For the year ended March 2018, CHENNAI PETROLEUM reported 12.1% decrease in net profit to Rs 9.0 billion compared to net profit of Rs 10.2 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 8.8% to Rs 442 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of CHENNAI PETROLEUM, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at down 0.7x.
