Indian Stock Market Updates January 19, 2021

CHENNAI PETROLEUM Share Price Up by 6%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 1.5%

CHENNAI PETROLEUM share price has zoomed 6% and is presently trading at Rs 128.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS Index is at 14,983 (up 1.5%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS Index today is CHENNAI PETROLEUM (up 5.5%).

CASTROL INDIA (down 0.5%) is among the top loser today.

Over the last one year, CHENNAI PETROLEUM has moved down from Rs 151 to Rs 128, registering a loss of Rs 23 (down 15.2%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS has moved up from 14,776 to 14,983, registering a gain of 207 points (up 1.1%) during the last 12 months.

The top buzzing stocks among the BSE OIL & GAS Index stocks during this same period were RELIANCE IND. (up 33.9%), INDRAPRASTHA GAS (up 22.1%) and GAIL (up 6.4%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 49,165 (up 1.2%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are BAJAJ FINANCE (up 3.5%), BAJAJ FINSERV (up 3.2%) and L&T (up 3.2%). Other gainers include HDFC (up 2.3%) and SBI (up 1.9%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are SBI and ONGC.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 14,456 (up 1.2%). The top gainers in the NSE Nifty include GRASIM (up 4.9%), TATA MOTORS (up 3.8%) and BAJAJ FINANCE (up 3.6%). Other gainers include BAJAJ FINSERV (up 3.6%) and L&T (up 3.0%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 41,873 to 49,165, registering a gain of 7,292 points (up 17.33%).

CHENNAI PETROLEUM Financial Update...

CHENNAI PETROLEUM net profit stood at Rs 3 billion for the quarter ended September 2020, compared to a profit of Rs 64 million a year ago. Net Sales declined 18.7% to Rs 97.3 billion during the period as against Rs 119.7 billion in July-September 2019.

For the year ended March 2018, CHENNAI PETROLEUM reported 12.1% decrease in net profit to Rs 9.0 billion compared to net profit of Rs 10.2 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 8.8% to Rs 442 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of CHENNAI PETROLEUM, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at down 1.8x.
