Today I'm going to draw your attention to a dangerous trend that could have severe implications for you - your thoughts...your beliefs...and your wealth. There is no escaping it. The only way to stay safe is to be alert and avoid the trap...

Recently, a very famous international daily got caught in a storm for reporting opposing headlines on the same day about Donald Trump's stance on immigration. It was alleged the newspaper produced different editions in different markets to influence voters.

The newspaper responded by saying that the versions were for the same markets, but the morning and afternoon editions were different and reflected a change in the situation.

Meantime, the damage was done. And to some extent, it was deserved as the newspaper was probably overly assertive when the situation was yet to be played out.

Blame the commercial dynamics. In the need to be the first and move as much paper as possible, truth is the ultimate casualty.

Welcome to the world of fake news and alternative facts.

The term 'fake news' is trending. Its rise has been alarming.

Fake news is false information. The motive could be to mislead or to sell something Authenticity and accuracy are never the chief concern. Even the so-called data experts are going wrong (nearly all US pre-election polls had Trump losing).
