The Superinvestors of India

  • The quality quandary

It won't come as a surprise to you that I'm a huge fan of Benjamin Graham.

Nobody else has taught me more about value investing. I even based my investment advisory on his teachings.

But I have a confession to make...

I find his writing excruciatingly bland. One of my colleagues - who's actually an even bigger fan of Graham - calls his dull writing a moat.

And he's right. Graham's pedantic style puts off many readers who will, unfortunately, never get to learn the wisdom in those pages.

Peter Lynch, on the other hand, I find easy to read and highly interesting. He takes you on a journey. It is as if you are with him, leading a busy fund manager's life, and learning valuable investing lessons in the process.

So despite my deep and abiding love for Graham, when Rohan and Kunal asked for advice on their superinvestor project, I told them to make their special report read more like Lynch and less like Graham.
