Be Okay with What You Don't Know

In today's information age, the concept of 'I don't know' is frowned upon. How can anyone not know anything? We have television, newspapers, the internet, and smartphones. Ecommerce sites can now deliver to your doorstep a rare book that was heretofore not available in India.

The point is, as more and more information has become readily available, saying 'I don't know' has become less acceptable. I'm talking about everyday life here. But even in the highly uncertain world of investing, 'not knowing' is hardly looked upon favourably.

Because of all the data and analysis relentlessly spewed out by the so-called experts, it seems almost a crime to not know. What's more, one is expected to have a view on each and every stock, however short the time horizon.

Legendary investor Warren Buffett does not buy any of this. Here 's Buffett:
