Uncertainty clouds bourses

The market went down today by 48 points on account of supreme courts ruling that turnover tax would be applicable to the brokers. The positive sentiment driver was good results from both old and new economy stocks.

The drop was led by HLL that pulled the Sensex down by 12.2 points. The tobacco major also joined in the fall contributing 4.9 points. The others included Zee 6.4 points and Infosys 7.7 points. Reliance Petro dragged the Sensex down by 3.5 points. Satyam and NIIT contributed another 2 points to the fall.

The gainers included L&T and ACC from the cement sector, which pushed the Sensex up 1.5 point. Reliance recovered from its fall during the day to contributed 1.1 points. Other contributors included Hindalco 1.1 points and A.C.C. 0.2 points.
