Based on marketcap, these are the top 5 companies in the BSE Sensex companies:
Within the BSE Sensex, the top gainers were TATA STEEL (up 2.8%) and ITC (up 2.2%). On the other hand, TECH MAHINDRA (down 1.6%) and Eternal Ltd (down 1.6%) were among the top losers.
Well, it depends on what your goals are.
Having said that, the two key indices to track are the BSE Sensex which contains the list of BSE 30 stocks and the NSE Nifty which contains the list of NSE 50 stocks.
However, these two indices are considered to be too narrow by some, since they only track 30 and 50 stocks, respectively.
For broader tracking, you could use the BSE 200, BSE 500 or even the NSE 500 index.
Some popular market cap based indices include BSE Smallcap index and BSE Midcap index, among others.
Although the benchmark indices opened flat, they traded positive throughout the session and ultimately closed green.
