SoftTech Engineers Limited has partnered with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to launch India's first AI-powered "Digital Approval Twin" called CivitTWIN, designed to speed up building permit approvals.
The platform was launched at a tech event in Mumbai by Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, along with senior officials from the city administration.
Currently, Mumbai processes over 8,000 building proposals every year, and the approval system is highly complex, involving hundreds of manual data entries, coordination with multiple departments, and verification of many documents.
CivitTWIN aims to simplify this by allowing architects and applicants to upload building plans, check them digitally, identify errors in advance, and fix issues before final submission. This helps reduce delays and mistakes in the approval process.
The system uses multiple AI agents to read and process drawings, documents, maps, and past data to simulate the approval journey in advance.
SoftTech Engineers said this marks a major step in using AI for government services and supports its goal of improving urban planning and infrastructure management through digital solutions.
