India's Big Government - The Intrusive State and How It is Hurting Us

Vivek Kaul released his book India's Big Government - The Intrusive State and How It is Hurting Us at the Equitymaster Conference 2017: India Collapsing?

Mumbai, January 21, 2017 - At the recently concluded Equitymaster: 'India Collapsing?' conference at the iconic Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai, Vivek Kaul, established author and Editor of The Vivek Kaul Letter released his much awaited book India's Big Government-The Intrusive State and How It is Hurting Us.

The book according to him is an eye opener for today's audience. In the fourteen odd chapters, Vivek has neatly dissected the many problems faced by the country tracking them since the days of India's independence to the current scenario.

Right from agriculture, banking, employment, infrastructure, labour and welfare, manufacturing and industry, primary education, taxation, the book investigates each and every aspect thoroughly. The book is in fact a mirror to the society wherein it has questioned the very basics of governance which has launched many projects in the guise of development without due consideration to any policy planning or its lack whatsoever.

The foreword by Bill Bonner is itself a testimony to the creative pursuits of Vivek. The introduction summarises what lies ahead, and likewise, every chapter looks at the economic and social scenario in the broader perspective. Furthermore, there are several anecdotes and personal experiences which Vivek has related in his painstaking nine months of research which has made this book possible.

Overall, it is a very frank opinion put forth by Vivek wherein he has neatly substantiated his research by facts and figures that make for an interesting reading.

Like his previous books, this book too is very well researched and has earned plaudits from world renowned authors and publishing houses. Ajit Dayal, founder of Equitymaster was present at the conference and helped unveil the book. Ajit as we all know is a very straight forward person who speaks his mind and was all praise for Vivek's efforts and encouraged the delegates not to miss the opportunity of getting a signed copy of the book.

Nevertheless, the book launch was definitely one of the highlights of the Equitymaster Conference 2017: India Collapsing? wherein we saw many delegates deliberating on key issues pertaining to the economy and wellbeing of the nation. In fact, both Ajit and Vivek complemented the proceedings and presented a thoughtful scenario on the economic front. In short, the Equitymaster Conference served as the perfect backdrop for the book launch.

Following are the testimonials for his book Easy Money.

On our desk are two great books. One is David Stockman's The Great Deformation. The other is Vivek Kaul's Easy Money. - Bill Bonner

Forget what you think you know about money and read the true, absorbing tale told by Vivek Kaul in his thorough, but fascinating book, book, Easy money. A great read.

- Al Ries, marketing guru and author of War in the Boardroom, The Origins of Brands, The Fall of Advertising & the Rise of PR, and many other books

This indigenous writer has written a book which is truly global in every sense. I would take the liberty of lacing him in the same league as a Niall Ferguson or a Peter Bernstein, even though this is Vivek Kaul's first book. - The Hindu

Kaul is not an economist and rightly assumes that neither are his readers. Unlike other books, which seem to have been written by one economist for other, this book is for everyone who is ready to try out a riveting cocktail of history and economics. There is no jargon to throw you off balance. Instead, the writing is simple, suave and lucid.

- Daily News and Analysis (DNA)

Speaking at the launch, Vivek said, 'I thank Equitymaster in helping me with the publishing of this magnum opus and would look forward to new ideas in addressing the many issues faced by our country.'

The uniqueness of the book launch being that it has only been promoted through Equitymaster and not available at any leading online portal or book store. It is quite a voluminous tome and the graphical type face and design elements thoroughly complement the creative research inputs of Vivek. One look at the book and the author's credibility was enough for his investor fans who attended the conference line up to get an autographed copy.
