Indian Stock Market Updates January 18, 2021

ONGC Share Price Down by 5%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Down 2.0%

ONGC share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 102.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS Index is at 15,030 (down 2.0%).

Among the top losers in the BSE OIL & GAS Index today are ONGC (down 5.1%) and PETRONET LNG (down 6.9%).

RELIANCE IND. (up 2.2%) and HPCL (up 0.5%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, ONGC has moved down from Rs 125 to Rs 102, registering a loss of Rs 23 (down 18.6%)..

The BSE OIL & GAS has moved up from 14,750 to 15,030, registering a gain of 280 points (up 1.9%) during the last 12 months.

The top buzzing stocks among the BSE OIL & GAS Index stocks during this same period were RELIANCE IND. (up 30.7%), INDRAPRASTHA GAS (up 26.0%) and GAIL (up 5.4%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 49,122 (down 1.2%). The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are RELIANCE IND. (up 2.2%), TITAN (up 1.5%) and HDFC BANK (up 1.0%). Other gainer include ITC (up 0.3%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are ITC and RELIANCE IND..

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 14,459 (down 1.4%). UPL (up 6.2%) and RELIANCE IND. (up 1.8%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 41,953 to 49,122, registering a gain of 7,169 points (up 15.47%).

ONGC Financial Update...

ONGC net profit down at Rs 29 billion for the quarter ended September 2020, compared to a loss of Rs 42 billion a year ago. Net Sales declined 28.7% to Rs 169.2 billion during the period as against Rs 237.1 billion in July-September 2019.

For the year ended March 2020, ONGC reported 39.1% decrease in net profit to Rs 195.3 billion compared to net profit of Rs 321.0 billion during FY19.

Revenue of the company grew 6.3% to Rs 4,250 billion during FY20.

The current Price to earnings ratio of ONGC, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 27.3x.
