Indian Stock Market Updates August 19, 2019

DHFL Surges by 11%; BSE 500 Index Up 0.6%

DHFL share price has zoomed 11% and is presently trading at Rs 51.

Meanwhile, the BSE 500 Index is at 14,351 (up 0.6%).

Among the top Gainers in the BSE 500 Index today are DHFL (up 10.7%) and FORCE MOTORS (up 14.7%).

GODREJ INDUSTRIES and HDFC BANK are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, DHFL has moved down from Rs 648 to Rs 51, registering a loss of Rs 597 (down 92.2%).

On the other hand, the BSE 500 has moved down from 15,361 to 14,351, loss of 1,010 points (down 6.7%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE 500 Index stocks during this same period were ADANI POWER (up 92.7%), SPICEJET (up 70.3%) and VINATI ORGANICS (up 59.6%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 37,683 (up 0.7%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are SUN PHARMA (up 3.3%), L&T (up 1.8%) and NTPC (up 1.7%). Other gainers include ICICI BANK (up 1.4%) and AXIS BANK (up 1.4%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are TATA MOTORS and SUN PHARMA.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 11,140 (up 0.7%). BHARTI INFRATEL (up 3.7%) and SUN PHARMA (up 3.4%) are among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 37,664 to 37,683, registering a gain of 19 points (up -0.2%).

DHFL Financial Update...

DHFL net profit stood at Rs 3 billion for the quarter ended December 2018, compared to a profit of Rs 3 billion a year ago. Net Sales rose 23.5% to Rs 32.5 billion during the period as against Rs 26.3 billion in October-December 2017.

For the year ended March 2018, DHFL reported 22.6% increase in net profit to Rs 11.5 billion compared to net profit of Rs 9.4 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 9.4% to Rs 105 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of DHFL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 1.1x.
