CHENNAI PETROLEUM Plunges by 5%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 0.8%

CHENNAI PETROLEUM share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 128.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS Index is at 13,752 (up 0.8%).

Among the top losers in the BSE OIL & GAS Index today is CHENNAI PETROLEUM (down 5.1%).

GAIL (up 2.1%) and IOC (up 1.8%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, CHENNAI PETROLEUM has moved down from Rs 230 to Rs 128, registering a loss of Rs 101 (down 44.2%)..

The BSE OIL & GAS has moved up from 13,698 to 13,752, registering a gain of 54 points (up 0.4%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS Index stocks during this same period were INDRAPRASTHA GAS (up 73.2%), BPCL (up 36.5%) and PETRONET LNG (up 25.3%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 40,179 (up 0.8%). The top gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks today are M&M (up 2.1%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are AXIS BANK and M&M.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 11,786 (up 0.7%). BHARTI INFRATEL (up 2.3%) is among the top gainers in NSE Nifty.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 36,583 to 40,179, registering a gain of 3,596 points (up 9.8%).

CHENNAI PETROLEUM Financial Update...

CHENNAI PETROLEUM net profit declined 101.7% YoY to Rs 64 million for the quarter ended December 2019, compared to a loss of Rs 4 billion a year ago. Net Sales declined 0.3% to Rs 119.7 billion during the period as against Rs 120.1 billion in October-December 2018.

For the year ended March 2018, CHENNAI PETROLEUM reported 12.1% decrease in net profit to Rs 9.0 billion compared to net profit of Rs 10.2 billion during FY17.

Revenue of the company grew 8.8% to Rs 442 billion during FY18.

The current Price to earnings ratio of CHENNAI PETROLEUM, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at down 3.8x.
