Indian Stock Market Updates March 12, 2020

ITC Plunges by 10%; BSE 500 Index Down 6.6%

ITC share price has plunged 10% and is presently trading at Rs 170.

Meanwhile, the BSE 500 Index is at 13,230 (down 6.6%).

Among the top losers in the BSE 500 Index today are ITC (down 10.4%) and MAH. SCOOTERS (down 14.0%).

TATA POWER (up 6.2%) and LAKSHMI VILAS BANK (up 4.9%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, ITC has moved down from Rs 293 to Rs 170, registering a loss of Rs 123 (down 42.0%)..

The BSE 500 has moved down from 14,798 to 13,230, loss of 1,568 points (down 10.6%) during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE 500 Index stocks during this same period were ADANI GREEN ENERGY (up 243.2%), NAVIN FLUORINE (up 114.2%) and ABBOTT INDIA (up 92.9%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 34,472 (down 6.3%).

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 10,041 (down 6.4%).

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved down from 37,054 to 34,472, registering a loss of 2,582 points (down 9.76%).

ITC Financial Update...

ITC net profit stood at Rs 41 billion for the quarter ended December 2019, compared to a profit of Rs 32 billion a year ago. Net Sales rose 5.1% to Rs 120.1 billion during the period as against Rs 114.3 billion in October-December 2018.

For the year ended March 2019, ITC reported 15.8% increase in net profit to Rs 128.4 billion compared to net profit of Rs 110.8 billion during FY18.

Revenue of the company grew 4.6% to Rs 499 billion during FY19.

The current Price to earnings ratio of ITC, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 13.0x.
